I am board certified in general and addiction psychiatry and a recognized leader, innovator, mentor and clinical expert in addiction treatment and systems of care. I am Co-Founder and CMO of CARMAhealth, a health care company that provides comprehensive primary care for addiction and related behavioral and medical disorders.

My work concentrates on medication therapy and clinical trials for addiction, behavioral health plans, peer recovery support, expert witness and medical board review. I am the current President of the Texas Society of Addiction Medicine.

I am Senior Medical Advisor for MAP Health Management, a national leader in Peer Recovery Support, data analytics and population health for substance use disorders. I am owner and Medical Director of Restore Fx, an interdisciplinary chronic pain recovery support program that moves individuals from dependence on opioids and ineffective interventions toward self-care, medical independence and productivity.

I believe the most effective interventions are those that reach into the lives of individuals and families, enhance self-care and are rooted in the best scientific evidence.

I have held faculty positions in the Department of Psychiatry at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the University of Pennsylvania and currently am a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UT Dell Medical Center (https://dellmedschool.utexas.edu/team-profile/carlos-tirado).
